Getting it right

Corrections policy.

Useful information needs a clear way to put mistakes right. Here is how to report one and what happens next.

How it works

Report, check, correct.

  1. 01

    Report it

Use the contact form and choose “Data correction”. Include the page address, the statement or flag you think is wrong and a link to the authoritative source.

  2. 02

    We check the source

We check reports against the original sources. A report alone is not evidence that a published official record is wrong.

  3. 03

    We correct and explain

We correct confirmed errors and explain material changes on the affected page where appropriate. We do not promise a response time.

Our error or a source limitation?

We will distinguish an editorial or processing error from a limitation of the source. If the issue is in an official dataset, the publisher may need to correct its own record. Our screen can also differ from an exact-address check, because streets, bounding boxes and postcode centres are not property boundaries.

What not to send

Please do not send identity documents, confidential conveyancing papers or other people’s personal information.

Until it is resolved

Use the original source and consult your solicitor, surveyor or the relevant authority. Do not rely on this site alone for a purchase, consent, insurance, tax or legal decision.

Spotted something?

Tell us through the contact form and choose “Data correction”.
