Council Tax bands in Edinburgh, 2026/27
Every home in Scotland is in a band from A to H, set by the Scottish Assessors from its value on 1 April 1991. The council sets the charge for each band. Water and sewerage charges are collected with Council Tax. Edinburgh’s 2026/27 charges rose by 4%.

How to find a home’s band
Look up the address on the Scottish Assessors Association website. We don’t copy their band data, so always check the exact home there. The Home Report and the selling agent can also tell you. Discounts and reductions are explained on the council’s Council Tax pages.
Average rents in Lothian
Average monthly rents by number of bedrooms across the Lothian area, from the Scottish Government’s yearly statistics. The figures are based mainly on advertised rents, so new tenancies, and cover all of Lothian, not just Edinburgh.
