Your Edinburgh seller and moving pack
A printable checklist for selling your home and preparing an onward move within Edinburgh.
Combines a seller checklist with your saved next-home streets, viewing questions and optional purchase-cost illustrations. It does not assess an individual home. Use Print / Save as PDF in your browser; no PDF service or account is needed.
Anyone with a shared link can see the streets and figures in it, so leave out anything confidential. Opening a pack does not change your saved shortlist. Privacy · Edit your shortlist.
Preparing your pack…
Your pack
Review your street checks and any estimates below before sharing or saving as PDF.
Not a survey, valuation, legal or tax advice. Street flags are area context, not findings about the home. Missing flags are not an all-clear. Confirm the exact address, Home Report, title deeds, notices and buyer circumstances with your solicitor and surveyor.
Your selling and moving preparation checklist
Suggested sequence, not a fixed-length timetable. Discuss the order and dependencies with your solicitor. Ticks are only on this open page; they are not stored or included in a shared link. Do not enter confidential information.
1. Before marketing
The official first-steps guidance recommends speaking to a solicitor, checking the title documents and making guarantees and warranties available.
2. Prepare the Home Report
Most Scottish homes need a Home Report. The seller completes the questionnaire; a chartered surveyor prepares the single survey and energy report. Exemptions are explained in the official guidance.
3. Plan the Edinburgh-to-Edinburgh move
The next steps below are our practical preparation prompts, not a prescribed conveyancing timetable or a guarantee that two transactions can settle together.
4. Agree the contract
mygov.scot explains that a qualified acceptance sets out the seller’s conditions. Solicitors negotiate through missives; a concluding missive is a binding contract.
5. Prepare for settlement
The official settlement guidance explains the disposition transferring ownership, the solicitor’s mortgage repayment arrangements, and signing and arranging keys just before settlement.
